butterfly dream
A boy watches a butterfly’s wings
Above the land where freedom rings
In this land that is yours
And this land that is mine
If you ask him “How are you?”
He’ll tell you “Not fine”
The butterfly was smothered, completely crushed
He fell out of the sky and then turned to dust
An evil voice laughs in the distance
Carelessly playing with everyone’s existence
On an island, where the sun is shining
Not a cloud in the sky, no silver lining
Things are not what they seem
Children laughing, enjoying ice cream
The boy reaches out
But they say it’s a dream
Colorful flavors in cones and in cups
They whisper to him “Wake up”
WAKE UP!
